Ibsen launches a 1310 nm version of the I-MON FBG Sensor System Interrogator

Ibsen Photonics launches a 1310 nm version of its I-MON E Series for FBG Sensor Systems and for High-Resolution Spectrometer Applications.

Copenhagen, Denmark – October 5th, 2007

Ibsen Photonics, a leading supplier of holographic Phase masks, fused silica transmission gratings and optical spectrometer modules based on transmission gratings, today announced it’s release of a new, 1310 nm version of it’s I-MON Interrogation Monitor.

The Interrogation Monitor builds on Ibsen high-resolution spec- trometer technology, utilizing Ibsen fused silica transmission gra- tings. This design platform enables Ibsen’s I-MON to offer fast mea- surement frequency and compact size as well as low power consumption.

I-MON Product Manager Bjarke Rose explains: “Our I-MON Interrogation Monitor modules have been deployed in the field for over 5 years, and so the I-MON has already been embraced by this growing market that we have designed the I-MON for.” He adds: “Last year we launched the I-MON E series, a high-resolution version of our I-MON targeted as stand-alone monitors with USB interface for easy setup with a laptop. Our customers received the new I-MON 400E very well, praising the high sensitivity, sub-picometer resolution and ease of use. With this new wavelength range from 1275-1345 nm we broaden the application ranges not only within FBG sensing but also in high- resolution spectrometer or OSA applications.

Torben Jacobsen, President and CEO of Ibsen, adds: “This new I-MON development draws from the broad spectrometer competencies that lie in our OEM spectrometer business; this is an example of how our spectrometer and grating technologies are drawn upon to match the needs of fiber optic sensing applications with high-performing and cost-effective interrogation solutions.”

About Ibsen Photonics:
Ibsen Photonics is a leader in Phase masks and transmission gratings for a wide range of telecom, sensing and laser markets. The grating technology is leveraged in Ibsen’s optical spectro- meter modules for FBG sensor interrogation systems and telecom DWDM networks.

Ibsen Photonics furthermore is pursuing partnerships in other industries to expand their high-resolution spectrometer platform based on Ibsen pure fused silica holographic diffraction gratings.
