Caterina Vigliar receives the 2026 DOPS award

The Danish Optical Society (DOPS) is delighted to announce that Dr. Caterina Vigliar, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at DTU Electro, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 DOPS Award.

Caterina is being honored for her outstanding contributions to quantum photonics and integrated optical communication technologies, as well as for her remarkable leadership within the Danish and international optics communities. Her research has advanced central areas of modern photonics, including integrated quantum processors, quantum communication protocols, and error-protected photonic qubits—achievements reflected in her publications in Nature Physics, Nature Communications, Nature Photonics, and other high-impact journals.

Beyond her scientific excellence, Caterina has demonstrated exceptional commitment to community building. She plays a key role in mentoring young researchers, coordinating multi-partner initiatives, accelerating collaborative research, and strengthening Denmark’s position in the global quantum-photonics landscape.

The award comes with a 6.000 DKK cash prize and will be formally presented to Caterina at the upcoming DOPS National Optics Congress, where she will give a presentation of her work. We look forward to celebrating her achievements together with the broader optics and photonics community.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Caterina Vigliar on this well‑deserved recognition!
